Job Description

This is a hybrid position, and will require you to work onsite 3 days a week at either our Camphill, PA, Pittsburgh, PA or Buffalo, NY locations. This job is an entry-level actuarial position. Participates in Highmark’s Actuarial Executive Development Program and is expected to make continued progress towards actuarial credential and apply actuarial techniques and statistical analysis to at least one of several functions, which may include insurance premium and pricing development, claim trend analysis, experience studies, medical economics, profitability analysis, wellness studies, predictive modeling, provider efficiency, provider contracting analysis and claim reserving. Essential responsibilities include developing queries to obtain data appropriate to the purpose with minimal assistance, creating studies, analyses, and presentation materials to inform decision makers, ensuring internal and external consistency of all work, demonstrating eagerness to learn new concepts, managing own time and resources across projects, interacting with stakeholders to foster cooperation and teamwork, and developing positive relationships with others. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or closely related discipline, experience in an actuarial role with at least 1 exam component passed, and foundational analytical and communication skills. Travel required is 0% - 25%. The position is office-based with physical demands including lifting up to 10 pounds constantly.
