Job Summary
Responsible for effectively coordinating the sales and operational activities of the Branch Office with a view to maintaining competitiveness and to increase market share and become an integral and profitable branch by performing the following duties. Supervise and manage the staff at his/her branch office.
Duties & Functions
• Directly supervises the Operations Manager and departmental Supervisors of the Branch Office.
• Assist Branch Manager in creating and implementing policies & procedures to ensure that the Branch Office is profitable.
• Coordinate rate negotiations with the airlines to obtain competitive rates for the Branch Office.
• Advise staff on import, export and logistics regulations.
• Coordinate with the Customs House Broker to advise staff on import regulations.
• In conjunction with the Operations Manager, verify the validity of all export shipment documentation.
• Assist with the Accounting of the Branch Office.
• Troubleshoot shipment problems.
• Investigate operational mistakes, advise staff on corrective action, implement procedures to ensure future compliance.
• Assist with Branch Office sales efforts.
• Comply and ensure adherence to NNR Global Logistics USA standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient business operations.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Perform other duties as requested from management.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education & Experience:
• Minimum Associate degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5 year’s experience in the international freight forwarding industry.
• 2 year’s experience working with DG freight.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
• Employee must have a broad understanding of sales techniques.
• Employee must have excellent organizational and communications skills and be able to motivate the local staff.
Physical requirements:
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Employee must have a valid driver’s license.
• Employee must have forklift safety certification.
• Travel, including overnight and overseas travel may be required.
