The Peace Officer Standards and Training Board is looking for their next administrative professional. This position provides administrative support to the executive director, the POST Board chair, the board members, and their committees to ensure board activities are accomplished efficiently and effectively, and in accordance with open meeting law and other regulations. This position is the designated meetings coordinator and certified purchased for the agency. This position additionally provides support to many POST committees, including complaint investigation, standards, executive, public safety advisory, advisory rules, and board staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers who have questions about agency operations and procedures (in person, in writing, on the phone, and through presentations and other electronic correspondence.
  • Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect files.
  • Database management sufficient to set up and run basic queries, review, and analyze data, and identify problem areas in areas which may include data, formulas, or security.
  • Word processing skills sufficient to create, edit, and finalize emails, memos, and letters for both internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports
  • Skills in business grammar, spelling, and punctuation to write, develop and edit reports, letters, procedures, presentations, and other documents.
  • Skills in recording proceedings verbatim manually or with specialized equipment, transcribing the notes, editing, and assembling transcripts and records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years experience as an administrative assistant, office manager or similar occupation that included budget management and meeting or event logistics.
  • Knowledge of POST Board functions including operations, organizational structure, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with State of Minnesota, Statewide Integrated Financial Tool (SWIFT) accounting and procurement system, or other comparable large private or government accounting system with purchasing functionality or demonstrated proficiency with a purchasing system.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of meeting records, conversations and deliberations is critical.
  • Knowledge of and experience using Salesforce software and database.
  • Experience with open meeting law implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
