Job Summary: Grade: NF01, Salary Code N/A. Maintains security of containers, trucks transiting distribution centers and Exchanges. Prevents and detects illegal and dishonest acts. Controls access to distribution centers and Exchange restricted areas, ensuring the security of associates and assets. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains surveillance throughout warehouse areas to prevent and detect illegal and dishonest acts such as the removal of government property. Observes employees' activities to detect pilferage and collusion. Follows suspects and, in accordance with established policies and procedures, detains individuals suspected of committing illegal acts after receiving authorization from a supervisor. Protects the integrity of the evidence until proper authorities arrive. Maintains control of all seals at all times. Ensures all trailers in the compound with freight are locked and sealed. Ensures all vehicles are logged in and out of the compound. Monitors warehouse internal and external security systems to prevent possible loss. Makes recommendations for revisions and improvements where deficiencies or weaknesses have been identified. Assists the supervisor in studying inventory shrinkage and conducting inquiries as assigned in high shortage areas. Reviews merchandise periodically to ensure that unauthorized changes in pricing or location have not been made. Witnesses, as required, the destruction of merchandise that has been marked down to zero. Maintains logs and reports of all visitors, investigations, discrepancy reports, etc. Ensures only authorized personnel are allowed to enter the warehouses. Conducts administrative inspections as directed by supervisor or management. Assists base police and/or Military Working Dog Teams as directed. Exercises tact and diplomacy in contacts with patrons and associates while carrying out assignments. Supports and carries out EEO policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
