Direct message the job poster from Aireon LLC Servant Leader & Talent Acquisition Manager in Aviation and Aerospace Job Requirements & Responsibilities The Vice President of Systems Engineering will oversee the systems engineering function, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals and driving technical excellence across all engineering projects. This leadership role requires a visionary who can build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, foster collaboration among cross-functional departments, and drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies. The VP of SE will manage engineering lifecycle practices related to Aireon’s products and services, leading a diverse team of architects, data analysts, engineers, and managers, nurturing a culture of collaboration and peak performance. The VP is responsible for maintaining air traffic services that ensure safe, secure, and effective delivery, following ICAO, regulatory, and internal standards, as well as Aireon’s integrated management system (AIMS). The role also includes promoting safety and security within the department. Reporting to the EVP, COO, the VP of SE will be involved in all phases of Aireon’s core and commercial air traffic control services: Concept, Planning, Execution, Transfer. What You’ll Do The VP of Systems Engineering is responsible for the growth and management of Aireon’s air traffic service, supporting core and future versions, and driving business with navigation service providers and data services. You will develop and execute strategic plans with global partners and manage over 27 employees, overseeing infrastructure and supply chain contractors. Responsibilities Define and implement scalable, innovative standard operating procedures aligned with corporate policies. Lead and retain a highly skilled, motivated team. Develop and maintain an integrated core system strategy in collaboration with sales and product management. Identify opportunities for product and process improvements. Manage financial performance to support corporate objectives. Foster a high-performance culture across the department. Develop processes for technology transfer, understanding market trends and opportunities. Serve as the executive contact for the engineering department, managing stakeholder relationships. Represent Aireon in industry engagements. Lead solution design for new business requirements. Collaborate with product teams to iterate and execute product lifecycle phases. Share best practices and communicate new features regularly. Monitor emerging technologies and develop proof-of-concept projects. Required Qualifications Master of Science Degree or higher 15+ years of progressive leadership in industry or civil, DoD organizations Proven people management and team leadership skills Experience with safety-critical, complex systems Passion for high-tech organizational leadership Experience with service models and effective communication skills Strong network within industry and customer base Visionary, innovative, proactive, and excellent communicator Desired Qualifications Proficiency with sensors, networks, and surveillance systems PMP certification Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and Agile processes Research & development experience, with a preference for AI & ML expertise About You You are a natural leader who builds scalable solutions, motivates teams, and fosters collaboration. Set up strategic meetings with key departments. Review performance plans and establish communication cadence. At 3 Months: Establish performance benchmarks and development plans. Build mentoring relationships and assess department culture. Develop strategic departmental plans aligned with company goals. At 6 Months: Create a strategic roadmap for ATS services. Plan upcoming releases and celebrate team successes. At 12 Months: Develop annual budgets and succession plans. Conduct performance reviews and set goals for the upcoming year. Engage in customer forums to understand client needs. About The Team The SE team has nearly 30 members, including remote and local staff, working in a multidisciplinary, agile environment focused on innovative solutions. The team communicates regularly via Microsoft Teams and Outlook, with a mix of formal and informal meetings to ensure collaboration and disciplined execution.
